SBI makes online banking more secure on YONO & YONO Lite: here’s how

The (SBI) has launched a security feature on its YONO and YONO Lite platforms called SIM Binding. The new version of these platforms will protect customers against various digital frauds. With the SIM link function, YONO and YONO Lite will only work on devices that have a SIM card of mobile numbers registered with the Bank, a press release issued by SBI said.

Here is how SBI clients can use this feature.

How to access

To access the new version of YONO and YONO Lite with enhanced security features, according to the press release, users will need to update their mobile app and complete the one-time registration process on those apps. The registration process verifies the registered mobile number (RMN) SIM card with the bank in order to complete the registration. “Customers will have to ensure that they register with the device that has the SIM card of the registered contact number,” the statement said.

“YONO and YONO Lite will work with the basic rule of One mobile device – One user – One RMN. However, the customer can use both YONO and YONO Lite in the same mobile device by using the RMN SIM card with the bank. In case the customer uses a mobile phone number, which is not registered with the bank, he will not be able to complete the registration process on YONO and YONO Lite.The new SIM link function will also allow two users different to separately access YONO and YONO Lite in a dual SIM handset, provided that both users’ NMR SIM cards are inserted in the device, “adds the SBI press release.
